Vision, Ethos, and Values.
Vision Statement.
Cobh Poetry Jukebox is a not-for-profit community project. It aims to support and enhance the availability, accessibility, enjoyment, understanding, and interaction with poetry and the spoken creative word in the town of Cobh. It will do this through the installation of a Poetry Jukebox in a central location in the town, and ensure that innovative and engaging curations are freely accessible to all.
Values.
Underpinning the work of Cobh Poetry Jukebox will be a firm commitment to the adherence to our values.

Community:
Community is at the heart of Cobh Poetry Jukebox. This project is for everyone. We commit to celebrating our community’s diversity, and actively supporting inclusion as a vital part of this project. Building strong, confident communities benefits every member of society. We are stronger together. Ní neart go cur le chéile.
Creativity:
Our poetry jukebox is a place for creating, sharing, expressing, exploring and discovering. We will be a space for all artists, whether professional, established or novice. This will be a platform for creative expression not just for our beautiful town, but for the world. We believe strongly that a commitment to the #PayTheArtist campaign is a core part of supporting careers in creativity.
Communication:
The power of poetry to make an impact is undeniable. We are a nation of poets, and we celebrate it. We will support Irish, English, and minority languages. We will seek to communicate with everyone, young and old, regardless of social status, with the aim of supporting everyone’s right to full participation in society.
Collaboration:
All around our Great Island we can see the power of collaboration. The strength of this wonderful community shows in a thousand ways every day. We will work with everyone to play our part in making our island a warm, welcoming, safe and happy place for all who live here, and those who come to visit.
Connectivity:
Cobh is a town from which thousands departed to lands beyond the horizon in years gone by. Where once the harbour was filled with sails, today those masts have been replaced by cruise liners, container ships, and bulk carriers, a permanent reminder of the living connections this town has with the wider world. This project will explore and enhance those connections. Our ties with the Irish diaspora are deep and lasting; we will renew old friendships and forge new ones.
